Drunk Girls On…Food: Addiction Aquatic Development上引水產

They say that Taiwan has the best sushi you can find outside of Japan, and while we only really had a chance to try this out once (sushi, unremarkably, is quite expensive everywhere you go), it was definitely one of the best sushi experiences we’ve ever had. Addiction Aquatic Development上引水產 is a fish market ‘concept’ that contains a variety of seafood restaurants including a hot pot restaurant, an outdoor grill, and a sushi bar. It also seemed to be some kind of gourmet grocery store, not too dissimilar to Dean and Deluca or the M&S Foodhall.

The sushi bar had about a 30 minute waiting time, after getting a numbered ticket, not too bad for 6:30pm on a Saturday. We don’t think they do reservations. Our meals varied in price, the lowest someone paid being 150ntd, and the highest being 500ntd. But then our meals itself varied too. One of us being a stranger to sushi decided to order the 12 piece nigiri tasting platter, which included some of their signature blow torched nigiri, as well as classic salmon and tuna nigiri options and a bowl of miso soup and little rectangles of omelet. Others in our group were slightly more versed in sushi and chose to sample the bar’s tuna (a strong indicator of the standard of fish at a sushi restaurant) as well as take the chance to try the elusive sea urchin.

The restaurant is also standing only, just to prove how hip and trendy they are.

There were two kinds of sea urchin on the menu, one we had in the form of nigiri and the other hand in a hand roll. We found the hand roll version to be tastier, but the price a little higher (this having something to do with the type of sea urchin being different). Obviously, sea urchin being a delicacy means that if you get the chance to try is, you should!

Most blogs and reviews of the sushi bar comment on the lack of English menus or pictures, luckily we seemed to have arrived after the management took this under consideration as we had no trouble navigating the bi-lingual menu. However, this means that we struggled to source a menu to share on this post, but you’ll just have to trust us and visit yourself!
